TIMELINE
St Annes Rovers Football Club was formed in 1974 and has a reputation within the Knowsley and Liverpool sporting community as an extremely well run community football club that helps local youngsters part take in and more importantly enjoy sport regardless of gender, race or ability. Run by a dedicated team of volunteers, St Anne's Rovers Football Club has an excellent relationship with local school, the local council and Merseyside Police and many other local groups and organisations.
Over the years the clubs have developed strong links with Liverpool, Everton and Tranmere Rovers Football Clubs and many of our former players have gone on to sign professional forms with these and indeed many other football club nationwide, over the past 20 years approx. 40 former players have signed professional forms and six have graced the famous Wembley turf. During this time, the club has been fortunate enough to win many honours at local, national and even international level. These honours have been won by teams from right across the age range, from under 8's to under 18's. This is a testament to the encouragement, coaching and support players at all levels receive within the clubs.
At St Annes Rovers Football Club, we believe that there is more to running a football club than just a game. We are dedicated to helping young people behave in disciplined appropriate manner at all times. We also encourage visits to other sporting and leisure events, providing a sense of achievement, community belonging, enjoyment and social activity.
The girls section was set up in 2003 with one team at under 12’s, we now have girls playing for teams aged 8 up to 18. The girls section are also becoming more successful season by season. Over the seasons, we have had many of our girls picked up by Liverpool and Everton academies. Many of our girls have represented the Knowsley borough team at football. Six years ago, the girls were FA Merseyside County Schools Girls League Champions and Everton Cup Winners playing at Goodison Park in the final.
In 2016, the under 10’s and 12's representing Merseyside & North West at FA Futsal National Finals at Birmingham. The under 10's became the FA Futsal National Champions, the first team to achieved this from Merseyside. In 2017, the same team now under 11 won the Merseyside Regional and represented the North West in the under 12 National Fustal final in Birmingham, sadly they lost in the semi-final to Tottenham Hotspur Ladies.
In 2017, our under 13 had a very successful season, League Champions U14, FA County Cup Winners U14, Merseyside Fustal Winners. No another St. Annes team have won the FA County Cup.
Many of our girls have played for our sister club, Knowsley School Girls under 11 which is a borough team who play in a FA Merseyside County Schools Girls League.
